About this hotfix

This hotfix addresses the issues listed in Resolved issues. It is recommended for all Foglight for Infrastructure 5.8.5.4 (and earlier versions) installations.

This hotfix may receive additional testing. If you are not severely affected by the issues that this hotfix addresses, it is recommended that you install the next full release of Foglight for Infrastructure that includes this hotfix.

System requirements

Foglight for Infrastructure 5.8.5.4.1 must be installed on a running Foglight Management Server 5.7.0 or later. Foglight Agent Manager 5.8.1 or later must be installed on all the hosts that you want to use for local or remote monitoring.

Product licensing

Foglight includes a licensing capability that restricts access to those features that are defined in the license. Any Management Server installation requires a license that grants access to server-specific parts of the browser interface and the features associated with them.

Foglight for Infrastructure is covered by the base Foglight license.

To activate a trial or a purchased commercial license:

  1. On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click Administration > Setup & Support > Manage Licenses.
  2. Click Install.
  3. In the Install License dialog box, click Browse.
  4. In the file browser that appears, specify the location of the license file.
  5. In the Install License dialog box, click Install License.

 


Installing this hotfix

To install this hotfix:

  1. On the Cartridge Inventory page (Administration > Cartridges > Cartridge Inventory), install the Infrastructure-5_8_5_4_1.car file.

    Any earlier versions of Infrastructure.car are automatically disabled. Do not uninstall or remove them.

  2. Navigate to the Agent Status dashboard (Administration > Agents > Agent Status).
  3. On the Agent Status dashboard, click Deploy Agent Package in the lower-left corner.
  4. In the Deploy Agent Package dialog box, specify the Agent Manager host to which you want to deploy the agent package.
    Note: In order to select the host, the Agent Manager must be active and running on the host.
  5. Ensure that the HostAgents.gar agent package appears in the Package field.
  6. Click Deploy. The Deploy Agent Package dialog box refreshes, showing the status of the deployment operation. A green check mark appears in the status column to indicate a successful deployment.
  7. Click OK to close the dialog box.

 


Verifying successful completion

To determine if this hotfix is installed:

  1. Navigate to the Administration > Cartridges > Cartridge Inventory dashboard.
  2. Ensure that the following cartridges are updated to version 5.8.5.4.1 and enabled:

Removing this hotfix

Once installed, this hotfix cannot be removed.
